I’ve taken the Boulder Pledge - have you?

Under no circumstances will I ever purchase anything offered to me as the result of an unsolicited e-mail message.  Nor will I forward chain letters, petitions, mass mailings, or virus warnings to large numbers of others.  This is my contribution to the survival of the online community.

This pledge was originally coined by Roger Ebert at the Conference on World Affairs at the University of Colorado in 1996.

I’m trying to get my family and friends to buy headsets and download a program called Skype. It lets you make voice calls over the internet. Skype to Skype calls (computer to computer) are free, so it’d let my family in Canada talk to me without spending a fortune on long distance every time.

I told them about it months ago. Not a single one of them has downloaded it. Nobody bought a headset. Nobody has shown more than cursory interest whenever I mention it. Yet, these are the same people who tell me they never hear from me enough, and wish we could talk more often.

*sigh*

As you may have guessed, I’ve switched from Movable Type to Drupal and now I’m finally using one I like: Wordpress.

Movable Type was just… icky. Plus I don’t much care for their license, either. Drupal had promise, but ended up being overkill for what I need here on this site. Wordpress.. (Christ, I sound like Goldilocks) is juusst right.

I’m going to be tweaking the template and colors for a while, so unfortunately the site may end up looking like ass temporarily. Sorry in advance if that happens.
