On Safari

We (the Cactus, Carole, and myself) went to the Virginia Safari Park on the weekend. We’ve been there before, but it’s been over a year and we wanted to go again and see what’s new. We loaded up the Behemoth, and off we went.

The bestest part: They had a TON of little baby rheas running around. OMG. Looky here:

More Baby Rheas!
TONS of Baby Rheas!

There were also ostriches, llamas, yaks, wildebeasts, bison, emus, deer, other deer, and watusi.

A New Home

This site is now hosted on my very own machine, and I’m a lot happier.  The other machine was in an office I didn’t have keys to, the machine was poorly maintained (needs new fans) and kept going down.  Now that we’re on our own shiny new machine (and on a MUCH faster connection, I might add) things should be much better.

Woo!

Happy Halloween!

I hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween. This year’s pumpkin photos are available in the gallery.

Dancing on my own grave

Last night I was shot in the back and killed.

Perhaps I should back up and explain. Last night we were doing simulated traffic stops at the citizen police academy. I pulled over a pickup truck for doing 45 mph in a 25 mph zone. Got his license and registration, and when I went to go run it through the computer, he shot me in the back with a Glock 27.

The sad thing is that I had a sneaky suspicion they were going to try something like that with me; I was looking for a weapon, and I was very aware of what was going on while he was getting the registration out of the glove box. Too bad I didn’t see the gun he had tucked under his knee.

I had a conversation with my wife, The Cactus, via text message:

Me: I died.
Her: I cried.
Me: Did you remarry?
Her: No, I just slept around a lot.
Me: Harlot!!
Her: Corpse!
